Jesse ref a lot of facts but nothing as specific, he has brought an idea to bear that all politicians are in it for them selves, which is no JOKE.

But I think this was written off the cuff and he could have showed a little more of the connections with other groups like the Illuminati, big banks, the fed and the corporations , who we all know work together to run the world in their globalist empire. Overall though its a OK read, but still Jesse is a quasi writer who has a hard time connecting the dots, or should we say refuses to connect the dots because of the powers that be.

A must ready! I'm a fiscal conservative with a love for the Constitution. Unfortunately I'm a registered Republican only as an independent limited my choices for who I can vote for. Don't see eye to eye with him about everything, but he isn't always far from right. He also pointed out a lot of things I new nothing about Very interesting. One person found this helpful. A real eye opener, lets a person get a good inside look at how our country is run. Our government is bought and paid for by the really wealthy few.

Well written and with the stuff to back up what was written. Brave man is Mr Ventura. I wish every american citizen would read jesse venturas books. This will open your eyse to what the Government is doing. It should be a crime to what they can get away with. This book is awesome and very factual! People who are political should buy this book. Ventura has asked the questions and done the research.

All you need to do read this book. It will anger you, sicken you, and make you ask yourself some hard questions. This book should be required reading in all high schools. Every should read this and other books by Jesse Ventura! See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. Report abuse. For any conspiracy theorists out there, here's a great book to feed you some information that may come necessary for when the theories are proven right if only.

Seriously though, this book feels like a scientific theory supporting a fact rather than simply a theory. A lot of what is spoken is the awful truth and dpoken with such simplistic force makes it even easier to comprehend. No minced words or any excruiating tough jargon or even overly stretched lengthy details only made to confuse the buyer in this book.

It is a public friendly book that speaks well to its viewers. I feel enlightened and much more curious after finishing this. Brilliant work. Bought it as a secret santa for a friend who loves Jesse Ventura. The book got here in 5 days, great deal, couldn't ask for much more! Your recently viewed items and featured recommendations. Oct 01, Jeff rated it liked it Shelves: I liked the book's theme of a no-party system; however, even though I'm interested in finance, I think the average person will quickly tire of pages of statistics and dollars and put the book down.

Aug 03, Laura rated it liked it. I have read a book by Jesse Ventura once before which eventually led me to this one. It took me awhile to get into as there was a lot of dry, numbers talk that sort of numbed me out. But somewhere along the line things got interesting, albeit a little discouraging. I liked to think that Obama was a great President and in the grand scheme of things he seemed to be but the more I delved into this book during the build up to Obama's 2nd term, I was reading things that I didn't like hearing about Oba I have read a book by Jesse Ventura once before which eventually led me to this one.

I liked to think that Obama was a great President and in the grand scheme of things he seemed to be but the more I delved into this book during the build up to Obama's 2nd term, I was reading things that I didn't like hearing about Obama and how deep he was into the election 'game' as everyone else was. This saddened me. What angers me is the way the Government people don't give a shit about regular American people or people in any part of the world.

Everything is all for profits and more and more and more of anything that will benefit anyone in the higher echelons. I am pissed that so many of these rich assholes just get richer and don't give a shit about the world.

It angers me that money can turn off people's morals and goodness for the sole benefit of becoming richer and turning blind eyes to the devastation their decisions make. Don't get me started on the lack of separation of Church and State. So if you would like to learn more about these types of things and the theory of the Bloods and Crips in Government read this. You will possibly be bored by a lot but also learn a lot as well.

Say what you want about Jesse but I find him interesting and many of the topics he has written about in both books make sense to me Oct 19, Lauren rated it it was ok Shelves: non-fiction , media-criticism , american-literature , politics , humor. Ventura spotlights some important issues in this book. So first off, the name calling. It's all over this book, and I don't like it. I don't like it when our president does it, and I don't like it when anyone else does it either.

Secondly, he lapses into conspiracy theory a few different times, another thing I'm not a fan of. He also takes cheap shots. If you want to be a humorist which I have to assume Ventura is partia Ventura spotlights some important issues in this book. If you want to be a humorist which I have to assume Ventura is partially trying to do , that's fine, but certain things are below the belt.

Most of what Ventura says falls into the realm of fair if sometimes petty and juvenile game, but a few times he wandered well outside of that. Also, for someone who's so intent on spotlighting the research he's conducted, his citations can be pretty weak. A bunch of them come from not-terribly-reputable sources, but even more surprising to me was how often he left quotes uncited.

If you are going to show your work and provide citations, the one thing you should always, always provide citations for without exception is quotes. Jul 20, Kyle rated it liked it Shelves: audiobook , library-book , politics , funny , impulse-read. Boyfriend showed me the cover of this book as he was working in the library. I thought it was hilarious so I told him to check it out for me. The audiobook for this book is wild, like an educated crackhead talking to you about his crazy opinions about politics and government.

Like you find yourself nodding in agreement to his words but sometimes you come to reality and realize you're still listening to a crackhead. The narrator's voice slips in and out of a southern drawl and it drove me up the Boyfriend showed me the cover of this book as he was working in the library.

The narrator's voice slips in and out of a southern drawl and it drove me up the walls listening to him say 'hunderd' instead of 'hundred'. Jesse makes some good points, but he sucks Ron Paul's dick so much towards the end of the book that it made me roll my eyes. It's an okay book, that's about it. Jul 18, Wade, Rosario, and Marco rated it it was amazing.

Rosario read this one his 4th Jesse Ventura book and thought it was great. One is not enough! I had the great pleasure of reading an advance copy of this book and let me tell you— it pulls NO punches. The book details and documents how our electoral and legislative process has been taken over through a corrupt process of lobbyists and campaign contributing by corporations and the wealthy.

You know that nice feeling you get, when you finally hear what you know is the truth, spoken loudly and clearly. You get a ton of that with this book. The quotes in the book are fantastic. People losing their jobs and homes are just collateral damage to these people. Just like civilians who get caught in the crossfire are just collateral damage to the street gangs. Oct 07, Ned rated it really liked it. Some people may not agree with the message of the book.

But I found it very informative. There are a lot of people that agree that money and corporations need to be removed from politics. Believe it or not, our government keeps their surreptitious agendas away from the American people. It is ludicrous to think that we truly have a free press.

The facts that Mr. I started to think to myself how could people be so trusting of a government that constantly has scandals. Do our votes really count? President George W. Bush signed legislation that all voting machines have to be upgraded. Who are the ones that are going to regulate these new electronic voting machines?

How do we know that the software cannot be hacked? Ventura would like to abolish the Electoral College system, remove party identifiers from candidates, and go to a no party system. I agree that the Electoral College system is outdated. Why is the President of the United States the only office not elected by popular vote?

People have been so brain washed that they vote by party lines, and not by what they think is right. I like how Mr. Ventura pointed out all the money being thrown at our politicians. Politicians are no longer working for the people; they are working for the corporations. Corporations are able to funnel money through Super PACs. I agree with the book that change needs to happen. If only just one small change, we should take the money and corporations out of politics.

Aug 22, Manny rated it really liked it. Ventura is a strange seed. He has historically claimed his Libertarian beliefs yet this book has many inconsistencies when compared to the "Libertarian" platform. With that said, I am opposed Ventura is a strange seed. With that said, I am opposed to crony-capitalism and companies and "CEOs" getting rich by stealing from the public.

Here are just a few of his inconsistencies: 1. I do not necessaarily agree with the practice but he had the opportunity to do some equal opportunity bashing. He call Paul Krugman a "level headed" economist. Nuff Said. He rants on and on about how the Koch brothers funded the Tea Party making it "AstroTurf" instead of a grass roots movement. However he neglects to let you know that the OWS movement was also being funded by the democript's "shot caller" To use his gangster analogy George Soro's I agree with a lot of what he said.

He seems to be a far left leaning Libertarian and supports massive regulation over free market, however he seems level-headed enough save the conspiracy stuff and has enough common-ground to be able to work with to get true change. In the spirit of full disclosure, I am a hard core, even "radical" Ron Paul supporter. The presence of the chapter on Paul was very appealing to me. The book is good and points out both sides', albeit lopsided, ignorance and involvement in this spiralling downward society where soon, if unchecked, will become a dystopia.

Sep 18, Diane rated it it was ok Shelves: wpl , nonfiction , gave-up-on. OK, so technically I did not finish the book. I had about 35 pages left and it was due back to the library and to be really honest I was never going to read the chapter entitled "Ron Paul is the Second Coming" Please forgive, I returned the book to the library yesterday.

Overall the content was nothing new to me but I understand much of his content may be new to some readers. I agree with Mr. Ventura that our political system is broken and r OK, so technically I did not finish the book. Ventura that our political system is broken and rigged against the "common voter. I'm from Ohio so I know Representative Dennis Kucinich also has not only voted against those bills but spoken up against those bills many times -- at least while he is still in office.

Overall, my stars are for content and not technical and literary value. Technically, the book was so bad I nearly gave up less than pages in. The footnotes, notes at the end of each chapter, are easily accesible from websites listed. However, these footnote citations are NOT primary resources and at times are only one step above sourcing from wikipedia. The editing was very distracting. This book would be good for non-readers and folks who only remember Jesse Ventura as a wrestler.

Apr 20, Christopher Hedges rated it really liked it. I tend to steer clear of books on politics because regardless of the side being portrayed I usually walk away ready to pull my hair out in a fit of rage. I think Jesse "The Body" was on point with most of what he said in calling for a massive overhaul to the current system.

I also believe the imagery he used in the book's title that flow I tend to steer clear of books on politics because regardless of the side being portrayed I usually walk away ready to pull my hair out in a fit of rage. I also believe the imagery he used in the book's title that flowed through out the book was the most accurate description of the political system in the United States I have ever read.

You may or may not like the Governor and his style, but I think if you are willing to look at this book with no preconceived notions it might surprise you. I don't think it really covers how to fix the system, but it might inspire some aspiring politicians to start think for themselves and start to challenge the status quo.

Feb 03, Deb Holden rated it really liked it. I know many of you are thinking - why would anyone read Jesse Ventura? I was very pleasantly surprised. I don't agree with a lot of his politics but this book is chocked full of facts, one after another, that don't pick sides. I would strongly suggest that if you want to learn more about what is wrong with our current two party system, this is a book to put on your list. Couple this with Thomas Friedman's latest book and his call for a third party, it is too bad we can get more straight thinking I know many of you are thinking - why would anyone read Jesse Ventura?

Couple this with Thomas Friedman's latest book and his call for a third party, it is too bad we can get more straight thinking in this country. I listened to this book and my only disappointment was that Ventura did not do the reading. His distinctive voice would have made it even better. There is a big plug for Ron Paul at the end you may want to skip that but the rest of the book would get anyone to some serious thinking. Jun 09, G. Neff rated it it was amazing.

Great book for those, like me, who wish to dig into the political system and its obvious failure to do its job. I do have one point to make, however. The "no party" system that the author suggests is good, and makes a lot of sense. But I believe that taking anyone who is asking for the votes needed to be elected to any office should have to be subject to a psychological test that would be developed by the profilers of the FBI. The testing, itself, would be overseen by these same profilers.

That w Great book for those, like me, who wish to dig into the political system and its obvious failure to do its job. That way, we would be better assured that we aren't voting a batch of sociopaths who have nothing but their own wants involved into positions where they decide what our laws should be.

A lie detector test wouldn't be too bad for would-be office holders, either. Jul 06, Leah Wicks rated it really liked it. The book is filled with enough information to make anyone angry. Our government is broken. It has been bought and paid for by the biggest businesses and corporations in America. It's one big incestuous mess. Those charged with regulating are or have worked for the businesses they are regulate.

Ventura opts for doing away with the two party system. Everyone should read this. Trust no one. Question everything. We are in big trouble, just a matter of when. Wake up America. N The book is filled with enough information to make anyone angry. Not an enjoyable read.

I could only read short sections because it made me angry. Clever title, too View 1 comment. Oct 25, Parker Gore rated it it was amazing Shelves: political. He constantly hammers both political parties, to eliminate bias because he is an independent, and constantly states facts they are cited, so you can fact check him.

One of the things i found most interesting about this book was Jesse Ventura's type of thinking. He is an extremist conspiracist, however that in its self makes the book interesting. Your constantly picking out what information is simply rhetoric, and what information is legitimate.

Jan 29, Michael Kozinski rated it it was amazing. I recommend this book! Jesse Ventura has done it again with his page-turning writing style that reveals the corruption of this government. I was satisfied at the ending because, knowing is half the battle.

This was a very interesting book and needless to say, this should be required reading. This book really helped me understand the issues of corporatism and military contractors. In a trial against the two parties, I recommend this book! In a trial against the two parties, this is all the evidence we need. Mar 12, Todd Russell rated it really liked it Shelves: non-fiction , political-figures , government.

A very sobering look at the current disturbing political climate in the United States. I think this paints a pretty good portrait of the disgust the average American has for the job the government is doing. The only problem I have with this book is it's very lean on solutions.
